Healing Trauma

Many Queer and Trans folx are involved in social change and healing justice work.  This work requires us to be able to work together for change. Often social justice movements are set back by interpersonal conflict or idealistic contradiction. These setbacks can turn into chasms that end up creating huge wounds in social justice movements and the folx that encompass them.  When these movements break down, the fall out is triggering for all involved.  It can be especially harmful for queer and trans folx with complex trauma. Systemic Change and transformative work requires that we be able to move toward one another after conflict to mend in contradiction. The emotional capacity to do this work requires healing change in individuals and communities.  Holding capacity for ourselves and others as we change is a learned healing practice. The cost of these movements breaking down is especially hard for folx who have been exiled or shunned. Queer and Trans folx join movements and find families. Folx who have been shunned or exiled from their families inevitably seek to be refamilied. This is huge risk and may take a few processes before you find the secure base and haven you desire.  Let yourself be in process and have accountability to yourself and others along the way.
